Hello, I'm Bex, a passionate colored pencil artist based in Bristol, specializing in creating lifelike animal, wildlife and pet portraits. My deep connection with animals began during my childhood, surrounded by cats, working on farms, and having horses as constant companions. Growing up in such a setting exposed me to Britain's stunning wildlife and picturesque countryside, inspiring my artistic journey.
My involvement in equestrian activities has been a significant part of my life. I have actively participated in various disciplines such as showjumping, cross-country, and showing. After completing my schooling in 2001, I pursued further studies in horses at an Agricultural college, where I discovered my true passion for dressage.
My journey with my magnificent 17-hand Dutch Warmblood gelding began when I purchased him as an unbroken 3-year-old stallion. With professional training and dedication, I meticulously nurtured him into a remarkable competition horse. We frequently competed in British dressage area and regional competitions, culminating in a significant milestone when we successfully rode an medium test. However, due to health challenges such as arthritis in the neck and fetlock problems, I made the difficult decision to retire him from competition. Today, he enjoys a fulfilling life as a happy hacker.
It was during this period of change that I rediscovered my love for art. I delved into local art classes, eventually finding my niche in the exquisite world of colored pencil art. Since then, I have been captivated by the intricacies and nuances of this medium, leading me to a fulfilling and rewarding career as an equestrian and animal artist.
I am committed to capturing the essence and beauty of animals through my art, and I am honored to share my talent with fellow animal enthusiasts and art aficionados. Thank you for joining me on this incredible journey.
